I second Calle 13. Residente is very easy to understand. - Helind, Jul 14, 2012

Hi. Good question and welcome to the forum.

Listening to music is an excellent way to improve both your vocabulary and knowledge of grammar.

Do a search--Click the Q&A link and you'll see a search box. Put in "song" and you'll get lots of threads on favorite songs posted by SD members.

Although rap may be your preferred type of music, I think other types of music are easier to use for improving listening skills. In reggeaton the lyrics are often spoken very rapidly and full of slang so they´re not easy to understand. If you like, you can try listening to bachata music, which is slow and well articulated. The songs are mostly about love, lost love, unrequited love and other love-stuff so it's also close to home wink.

Very popular at the moment is Prince Royce, but other famous bachateros are Frank Reyes, Zacharias Ferreira, Juan Luis Guerra (also sings a lot of merengue songs), Aventura, Joe Veras, Monchy y Alexandra.

Enjoy!

The TV series Breaking Bad had a few good Spanish language songs on. 1977 by Anita Tijoux comes to mind.

I also liked Franky Perez's version of Dylan's times are changing, los tiempos van cambiando, from the same program.
