Isabel Allende's Ciudad de las bestias

I'm currently trying to read Isabel Allende's book, La ciudad de las bestias. Reading it, I came across this sentence:

Lo despertó el ruido de la tormenta, el viento azotando los árboles, la lluvia sobre el techo, los relámpagos y truenos

I think it means: "He was awoken by the sound of the storm, the wind whipping the trees, the rain on the roof, and the thunder and lightning". Is this an accurate translation? If not, what would be a better translation?
