When do you use para and when do you use por? I am confused on the grammar rules for using each and I'd appreciate it if someone could explain it to me.

Here is a link for the SD video: Por Y Para video lesson

You can type in "por y para" in the box that shows under "ask a question" and you will get many more helpful comments from former threads trying to figure this same thing out. It's a common problem in learning Spanish.

Here's the SD grammar lesson and practic exercises on por and para:
basic por y para lesson

You can also get numerous por and para lessons from youtube.com

Here is another helpful link for practice once you've done the lessons: por y para practic exercises

To learn when to use "por" and when to use "para" in Spanish, you can watch one of Spanish Dict's lessons that addresses this issue. To find this lesson, click "learn" at the top, then click on "Learn Spanish 3", then select Lesson 3-6. When I watched this lesson, I thought it was great, so I took about two full pages of notes. I often refer to these notes, and I find them very helpful.
