Little words tripping me up! Please help.

Question

Hola:

I liked a song I heard on Spanish radio so I looked up the lyrics. I understand what the sentence is saying (I think), but I don't understand how and why it is constructed the way it is. Can you help me break it up into parts that I can understand? Thanks.

"Se que tu estas no me dejaras contigo voy hasta el final"

I think it means that "you are not leaving me and with you I am going until the end." Why is "se que" used here?

Try not to translate literally into English. It doesn't work. You must try to understand the "feeling or nuance" of what is being said. Mind you, it's a lot easier when it's written correctly. - Eddy, Jul 11, 2012

Better: "Sé que tú estás, no me dejarás, contigo voy hasta el final"

So, "Sé que tú..." = "I know that you..."

Or... would it be "Sé que tú estás no me dejarás... = I know that you will not leave me? - crabbycat, Jul 11, 2012

It doesn't make sense without the comma in Spanish. "I know that you will not leave me" = "Sé que no me dejarás". "Sé que tú estás (aquí conmigo)" = "I know you are here with me". - Cordobesa, Jul 11, 2012
