#24 El dentista: Katydew's Shared Class Dialogues

Question

Just sharing class dialogues with my SD friends. Leave a vote, answer, or a comment to let me know if this is helpful to you. As long as I know someone wants to see these, I'll keep posting them. If you know any other dental vocabulary, please post in an answer box or in the comments.

Just a note: I am more interested in understanding conversational Spanish and trying to understand what I hear in everyday life, so some of the forms will be informal.

Diálogo #24 – El dentista

Yo: Buenos días, tengo una hora con el dentista Hernández.

Recepcionista: ¿Primera vez que viene?

Yo: No, ya había venido antes. (Sí, es primera vez.)

Recepcionista: ¿Cuál es su nombre?

Yo: Katydew

Recepcionista: ¿A qué viene, Katy. (¿Por qué…?)

Yo: Vengo para hacerme una limpieza.

Recepcionista: Muy bien. Tome asiento y espere que el doctor le llame.

Dentista: ¡Katydew!

Yo: Hola Doctor.

Dentista: Hola Katy. Siéntese por favor. ¿A qué viene? (¿Para qué viene?)

Yo: Quiero hacerme una limpieza.

Dentista: Muy bien. ¿Con qué frecuencia te lavas los dientes?

Yo: Después de cada comida.

Dentista: ¿Usas ceda dental?

Yo: Sí, todos los días.

Dentista: Tus dientes están muy bien. No veo ninguna caries pero sí un poco de sarro. Te recomiendo que luego de lavar tus dientes ocupes enjuague bucal. Toma, prueba con esta muestra médica.

Yo: Muy bien, muchas gracias doctor. Hasta luego.

Katy would you want to use 'había'' here?

I 'had' come before.

or just the present perfect

He venido antes.

I 'have' come (been) before.

Thanks for your note, Kiwi. This is one way it's said informally in Chile. My tutor said that there would be comments from other countries about the grammar, but this if what I would hear in Santiago. I have no idea why. I just accept. jajajjajaaja - katydew, Jul 11, 2012
