Where am I (both the name of this place or it's nickname and the country) and what is the function of this place?

Did great get it right? Otherwise I will guess Easter Island off the coast of Chile. It looks too 'mountainy' for that but you needed at least one person guessing who wasn't in greatest's humanities class. jajajajaja
