"Going to" do something - Formal and Informal

Hola,

I just wanted to check on something basic. If I wanted to say for example "We are going to eat now", I would say "Vamos a comer ahora", right? But can I say "Estamos ir a comer ahora"? Is it the same thing? Is the first informal and the second formal? Thanks for your help smile

You can also say,

La comida ya está servida - Grub's up ( the food is ready, let's eat)

Hi and welcome to the forum!

"Estamos ir a comer ahora"?

That sentence is incorrect.

You can say:

Vamos a comer ahora (most common)

Comemos ahora (also used to say that we are just about to eat)

Comeremos ahora (future tense, less common but correct)

To say "we are eating" (at this very moment) then you can use "estamos comiendo ahora," but "comemos" is more common.
