Caefuego is the official corrector of the Spanish sentences. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Please correct your posts according to Caefuego's suggestions.

Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. Then the Word of the Day winner will be chosen.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Examples:

1. You will have to write the letter by hand.

Vas a tener que escribir la carta a manualmente.

2. Este recuerdo de mi viaje fue hecho manualmente por un artista local.

This souvenir from my trip was made by hand by a local artist.

'a mano' suena mucho mejor en esa oración... en mi opinión - ruiseñor, Jul 8, 2012
en ambos - ruiseñor, Jul 8, 2012
I have to admit, I thought so too. - rac1, Jul 8, 2012
I think that although it can mean 'by hand' it fits in sentences just like in English where we would say 'manually' :) - Kiwi-Girl, Jul 8, 2012
Eso era mi punto. Yo no diría esto en inglés....No sé lo que dices pero yo no digo "I'm gonna write a letter manually" - ruiseñor, Jul 8, 2012
I suppose if you want to be picky, is there any other way to "write" a letter other than by hand, however, I think we all know rac's meaning. - Eddy, Jul 8, 2012
Gracias amigos! - rac1, Jul 8, 2012
Hola Rac1! - miliard, Jul 8, 2012

No hay otra solución de arreglar tu coche, a pesar de ensuciarse las manos y hacer el trabajo manualmente.

There is no way around fixing your car, other than getting your hands dirty and doing the work manually.

Hola, thanks for posting. - rac1, Jul 8, 2012
La oración en inglés es un tanto "iffy" también. Que tal: "There is no way around getting your hands dirty and doing the work manually when fixing your car." - ruiseñor, Jul 8, 2012
..y.. en vez de "a pesar de (despite/notwithstanding)" -podrías usar- 'No hay más remedio que (there is no other choice but to)' - No hay más remedio que ensuciarse las manos y hacer el trabajo manualmente cuando se trabaje en su coche. (sólo un inteno) - ruiseñor, Jul 8, 2012
La oración se equivoca. Claro que hay una manera, emplea la mujer arriba. - Eddy, Jul 8, 2012
gracias a todos! - DreSmith3, Jul 9, 2012

Our world today has changed a great deal with the aid of information technology. Things that were once done manually (or by hand) have now become computerized operating systems, which simply require a single click of a mouse to get a task completed.

"Cada pieza de este collar de perlas es hecha manualmente". =) ;) También suena normal decir "está hecha manualmente", pero lo correcto es "es hecho/hecho manualmente" o "es hecha a mano". - -cae-, Jul 9, 2012
