Caefuego is the official corrector of the Spanish sentences. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Please correct your posts according to Caefuego's suggestions.

Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. Then the Word of the Day winner will be chosen.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Examples:

1. En el verano, una brisa cálida no es muy refrescante.

In the summer, a warm breeze is not very refreshing.

2. Un país tropical tiene un clima cálido y húmedo.

A tropical country has a hot and humid climate.

Helio, your sentence is very well written, I would only recomend to make some little changes, thus: "Si se quiere ser una buena persona, se debe mostrar un corazón cálido" - -cae-, Jul 7, 2012

Si piensas que me gusta el verano, entonces no está aún cálido , porque me encanta el verano con una pasión.

If you think that I like the summer , then you are not even warm , because I love summer

with a passion.

"Si piensas que me gusta el verano, no estás "tibio" siquiera, porque amo el verano con pasión". La pasión se asocia amor, de allí que use el verbo "amar". - -cae-, Jul 7, 2012

As a little girl, when I came in from from school in the winter, I would wrap my hands around a warm bowl of tomato soup that my grandmother had prepared for me.

Como una niña, cuando venía de la escuela en el invierno, me envolvería mis manos alrededor de un cuenco cálido de sopa de tomate que mi abuela había preparado para mí.

Según mis experiencias fuera del país, he notado que en algunos países se ducha con agua fría pero yo prefiero ducharme con agua cálida. ¡Me encanta cantar en la ducha también!

From my experiences abroad, I´ve noticed that in some countries they shower with cold water, but I prefer to shower with warm water. I love to sing in the shower as well!

"prefiero ducharme con agua caliente (o tibia)." Well done, BcscSullivan. - -cae-, Jul 7, 2012
¿No se puede decir "agua cálida" (warm water)? Hay una razón gramática o es que no suena bien? - sullivanbcsc, Jul 9, 2012
Hola Bcsc: Warm water = agua tibia. You can say "cálidas aguas" talking about a big body of warm water, like a lake, a sea or the ocean. You might say "agua cálida" talking about the shower too, but it is not common. - -cae-, Jul 9, 2012
