Tu - your Tuyo - yours Su - your (formal), his, her Suyo - yours (formal), his, hers
Es tu casa = it's your house La casa Es tuya = the house is yours Es su casa = it's his/her/your (f.) house La casa Es suya = the house is his/hers/yours (f.)
Hi Maria
Interesting question. In my mind I see it thus,
Tu - Your
Of or belonging to you. Your house, your own business.
Tuyo/a - Yours
The one or ones belonging to or associated with you. It is yours, yours over there.
I see the same principle applying to su and suyo/a
Please note that "tu" is invariable, ie tu casa (f) - Your house, Tu coche (m) - Your car, whilst the gender of the noun determines whether it is tuyo or tuya.
¿Es amigo tuyo? - Is he a friend of yours?
Fue idea tuya (f) - it was your idea.
