¡Hola, mi primera vez! I am writing an essay and I want to say "there is an unofficial symbol that has become more well known" Hay un símbolo extraoficial que se ha hecho más conocido, or que se ha vuelto más conocido. Or is there another better way to say this?

First, for more info on the various ways to say "become", you can go here
It seems to me the best word here wold be "hacerse", because you are talking about gradual change. "...se ha hecho más conocido".

Noetol has answered it well. You could consider ' ha llegado a ser bienconocido' or , ' ahora está bienconocido' . These are only suggestions, there are several ways of getting round these problems , as ever.
