su vs sus (possessive adjectives)
> 4 - Posesiones Write sentences using possessive adjectives to indicate > who owns these items. > > Modelo: You see: Yo compro un escritorio. You write: Es mi escritorio. > > You see: Ellas compran unos libros. You write: Son sus libros.
This one below, I didn't understand why it isn't "Es sus grabadora"" - since Ellos is plural. So the grabadora belongs to 'them'. Can su mean more than one person? Correct answer was: Ellos compran una grabadora. Es su grabadora.
Edit:
Ok, I think I understand now. The number has to agree with the noun and since, its just one grabadora, we use "su" even tho there is more than one person owns it. Is that right? Thanks for any help here.

Good question. Yes, you are correct. The possessive adjectives have to agree with the thing that is possessed, rather than the possessor, which is why it is possible to have:
Mis guantes. Or: Tus ojos.
When there is obviously only one of "me" or "you singular".
In the same way, it is also correct to say:
Nuestro padre. Or Vuestro carro.
When "we" and "you plural" are by nature, well, plural. ![]()
Hope this helps!
I look forward to an answer here.
