Today write sentences with "clear up"

Hello everyone. I think phrasal verbs are some of the most difficult to many English learners because most of them do not have a literal translation. So I have decided to learn one or two phrasal verbs every day.

I know you can help me with that, but you also need to learn Spanish, so please write the sentence in English using the PV then try it in Spanish. Then I will correct your sentence (the Spanish sentence, of course); we will help each other out.

If you´re not sure about how to translate your sentence, just explain (in English) what your Pv means and I will help with your translation.

Today let's write sentences using the phrasal verb:

"Clear up"

Some common meanings: Cure or recover from an infection (recuperar), tidy up (poner en orden), explain (explicar), improve (weather) (despejarse, mejorar, aclarar)

Good try Ashis, that does sound a little awkward in English though, it would be more common to say something like - 'A good debater can clearly state his point of view to his opponent without shouting. - Kiwi-Girl, Jul 3, 2012

I have wanted to include some uses for this phrasal verb and let me know if these are common, thanks.

yes they are good Luis but you seem to have jumped from 'clear up' to 'clean up' after your first example and they are different ;) - Kiwi-Girl, Jul 3, 2012
Thanks a lot Kiwi, it should be "clear up", but I´m not sure if it works. - luisssito, Jul 3, 2012
For - rash has cleared up, yes. You could say 'clear up' this kitchen but I'd tend to say 'clean up' the kitchen by 'clearing up' this mess lol. You 'clean up' playing poker but you don't 'clear up'. (btw don't forget your 's' on the third person sing) - Kiwi-Girl, Jul 3, 2012
He had 'cleaned up' (his life). But not 'he had 'cleared up'. - Kiwi-Girl, Jul 3, 2012
I got confused clear up by clean up.Thanks Kiwi, for clearing it up for me. - luisssito, Jul 3, 2012
