In the spring, the students get ready
In the spring, the students get ready for their final exam

And if you wanted for some reason to use the infinitive, then you´d need a construction with a different verb conjugated such as.
los estudiantes van a prepararse.
los estudiantes deben prepararse.
los estudiantes necesitan prepararse.
etc etc.

In the Spanish version, there is no conjugated verb. Perhaps "los estudiantes se preparan para su examen final".
puede ser: "En la primavera, los alumnos se preparan para sus examenes finales"
I believe "alumnos" is a better word for students, and the plural for "final exams" sounds more correct, but it might just be a stylistic choice. "...para su examen final" is perfectly gramatically correct though still.
I think even "...para los examenes finales" sounds good too.
