I dont get the following expressions, can anyone help me?

1)La persona no está. (the person u want to talk with is not here?)

2).La persona se pone. (the person u want to talk with is here? what about the usage of "PONER"? what does it mean here?)

3).Se ha equivocado.(Wrong number?) i know "equivocado" means incorrect, but "ha"? what role does it play in this particular sentence?

4).¿Quién le llama? (Who is calling?) why "le"? it is a indirect object pron, right?

this one is not about phone calls-

5) ¿No sabe cuándo puedo localizarle?= ¿No le sabe cuándo puedo localizar?

having troubles with IO pronouns, so if u can also give me some advice that will be sweet as.

cheers

Helpful question. Remember to capitalize and punctuate properly, without using text language for those trying to learn English on the SD site. - katydew, Jun 27, 2012

For the last question, not very easy even for native people, so don't panic, I would say:

In sentences with two verbs, there are two options regarding the placement of the pronouns. Place them immediately before the conjugated verb or attach them directly to the infinitive.

She should explain it to me. Ella me lo debe explicar. Ella debe explicármelo.

I want to tell it to you. Te lo quiero decir. Quiero decírtelo.

You need to send it to them. Se la necesitas enviar a ellos. Necesitas enviársela a ellos.

so is it correct to say " ¿No le sabe cuándo puedo localizar? " The problem is I have no idea where should I put the "le". a second thought just popped into my head - maybe it should be "¿No sabe cuándo le puedo localizar?".what do you think? - Orakei, Jun 27, 2012
I answered this in my post, although I'm not positive it should be le because lo sounds much better to me. either way the order would be the same as in my post - unMica, Jun 27, 2012

OK, I can´t cover all that, but will help what little I can.

1)

La persona no está. is shorthand for La persona no está aquí.

The person is not here (right now)

4) Yes, indirect object pronoun. The person (whom you are calling) is of course the indirect object. LIke in English, Whom are you calling (despite the fact that we often incorrectly say ´who you are calling´

The rest is above me to give a decent answer, as I´m still studying that material myself.

Buena suerte.

for Question 4, we often say "who(m) you are calling?", how come the person we want to talking with become the IO? Say the response is "I'm calling YOU", then YOU should be the DO,eh? in this case, Q4 should change to "¿Quién lo llama?",right? - Orakei, Jun 27, 2012

2) This means that the person is coming to the phone. It's like saying "I will put them on."

3) Ha is a conjugation of the verb haber. Se ha equivocado means literally "you have made a mistake" (usted). The tense of haber + another verb ending in "do" is called the perfect tense.

5) Do you know when I can reach them? ¿Sabe cuándo le puedo localizar/puedo localizarle? I personally would say localizarlo, but I may be incorrect in that, and in my translation of this question.

3 . equivocarse is reflexive in this instance.

It means: You have made a mistake.
