Tiene is third person conjugation of the verb Tener = to have so tiene means he/she/it has. You could say ¿cuántos años tiene tu hermano? How old is your brother. (Literally how many years does he have) Tiene 25. He is twenty five. First person tengo. Tengo 25. I am 25. Tienes 25, You are 25. So you can make hundreds of sentences with that little bit of information, just practice with a few and post them back in another thread and if you make any mistakes you will be corrected and taught more uses of the verb by our wonderful knowledgeable members.

Infinitive Form: Tener ("to have")

Present Indicative Form:

  • 1st person: Yo tengo... = I have...
  • 2nd person: Tú (informal) tienes... = You have
  • 3rd person: Él/Ella/Usted (formal) tiene... = He has... or She has... or You have...

Tiene means he, she, or formal you (Usted) has or have something. So when you want to say, "She has annoying sisters", you would say "Ella tiene hermanas molestas." You can also use "tiene" for age like the example Kenwilliams gave.
