Ella informó (A) su banco

Ella informó (A) su banco

Hola todos

Well, I missed two questions in a row on an online quiz today. I seem to have neglected the preposition ´a´ in both,

Ella informó a su banco. . y . ¿Quién informó a los periodicos.?

I´m fairly familiar with the personal ´a´ (not to say I don´t forget it a lot still) but don´t understand this situation and why it needs the ´a´

Maybe:

1) Because the bank or newspaper as a group of people or an entity get the personal ´a´ ? . or . 2) Because informar automatically takes that preposition before the object? .

I´ll have a much better chance of not repeating my mistakes if I understand why.

Thanks,

Roger

Tambien una institución - now that make sense. Though I´d never have known it was needed. I must research that verb list more. Thanks again. - rogspax, Jun 20, 2012
OK, I need to understand better. Here, it was used because the verb Informar is on the list, AND, because it was an institution, and only because of BOTH? i.e. are there verbs that would need the ´´ even if it was not a person or institution? - rogspax, Jun 20, 2012
And could other verbs not on the list require the personal ´a´, not just for groups, but also institution? Sorry for so many questions. - rogspax, Jun 20, 2012
