Correct way to say "Charge Nurse"

I round on each patient every shift as the charge nurse, I've seen saying, "Yo soy la enfermera a cargo."

People seem to know what I mean, but is this the correct translation?

Muchas gracias!

I will definitely used the expression. Soy la enfermera de turno, or Soy el enfermero de turno, This is if you are working at a clinic or hospital and you are in charge of this/these patients during your shift.

  • Soy la enfermera encargada, or a cargo de.../Soy el enfermero encargado, or a cargo de... if you have been assigned to a specific patient and no one will be taking care of him/her.

I would say "soy la enfermera en carga". But "a cargo" works as well.

Sorry gringorf, but "en carga" would not work. - farallon7, Jun 19, 2012

Hi jillsofija, "soy la enfermera a cargo" is correct and understandable. Another option can be "soy la enfermera de turno".
