Disculpar vs. Disculparse

I'm confused on the difference between disculpar and disculparse. Is disculparse a verb or some sort of conjugation of disculpar? What do both mean and how do I use them correctly in a sentence?

The difference is that disculparse is the "reflexive" form of the verb. It means "to excuse oneself" or more commonly, to apologize.

Good question, Alice...welcome to the Q&A forum!

I'm not sure if there is a subtle difference but I have heard them used pretty much in the same way, for example:

1) discúlpame = excuse me / forgive me

2) disculpa la molesta = excuse the bother / forgive me for bothering you
