How would you say, "Dad, I love you very much," in Spanish. Would it be, "Papá, te quiero mucho."

Te quiero is more for a lover than any other type of love. - kdrinning, Jun 18, 2012
Actually kdrinning, that's incorrect, Te quiero is used with family and sometimes a newer boyfriend/ girlfriend. However, te amo is strictly a relationship context. =] - DJ_Huero, Jun 18, 2012

Te quiero would be correct RichSean. Te quiero can be used with a best friend, parents, and of course other family. Te amo, on the other hand, is something you would only say to a lover/ significant other. My best advise so you can believe me, just listen to Latino children in your area when they speak to their parents, you'll hear it, I promise. wink

I agree...it's a friends, family, and boyfriend/girlfriend phrase.

Te amo, on the other hand, is something you would only say to a lover/ significant other.

Righto!
