Today write sentences with "come up"

Hello everyone. I think phrasal verbs are some of the most difficult to many English learners because most of them do not have a literal translation. So I have decided to learn one or two phrasal verbs every day. And I know you can help me with that, but you also need to learn Spanish, so please write the sentence in English using the PV then try it in Spanish. Then I will correct your sentence (the Spanish sentence, of course); we will help each other out.If you`re not sure about how to make a good translation ,just explain to me(In English) what your Pv means, that will help me make a better traslation. Today write sentences with "come up".

How did you come up with such a good excuse?

¿Cómo se te ocurrió una excusa tan buena?

I've got to come up with a good answer on the essay.

Debo pensar acerca de un respuesta buena en el tema.

Correction:

Se me tiene que ocurrir una buena respuesta en el ensayo.

Often when I browse the forum I think: people should not immediately ask any question that comes up, as most questions have already been answered many times before.

A menudo cuando navego en el foro pienso: la gente no debería pedir inmediatamente cualquier pregunta que suba, ya que la mayoría de las preguntas ya han sido respondidas muchas veces antes.

He came up against a stronger man.

Se tropó con un hombre más fuerte.

That's how he got his comeuppance.

Así es como recibió su merecido.

Hi annie your fisrt sentence sounds quite good and your second sentence require a small correction .I would say :Él se chocó(or topó) con un hombre más fuerte,así es como recibió su merecido. - luisssito, Jun 14, 2012

Good job Castor ,you can also say "brotar" instead of salir. - luisssito, Jun 14, 2012
Thank you. I was wondering... I guess brotar means the same thing as to sprout? - Castor77, Jun 14, 2012
Yes, "brotar" is used when any plant start to appear over the soil and also when a leaf appears on a tree. - luisssito, Jun 14, 2012
