What is the difference between deduct or re-duct. For example: My parents give me my allowance this month then this day i spend much so i want to ask them. Then they gave me half of my allowance for the next month,,so what is the correct word I've been use..deduct or re -duct?

¿Cuál es la diferencia entre deducir o re-ventilación. Por ejemplo: Mis padres me dan mi asignación este mes luego este día pasé mucho por lo que quiero pedirles.Luego me dieron la mitad de mi asignación para el próximo mes" ¿qué es la palabra correcta he sido uso..deducir o re -ventilación?

Never heard of re-duct. Deduct is to subtract, ie take one thing form another. Reduction is to make something smaller. In your case both words are synonymous.

Nunca oí la palabra "re-duct", sin embargo deducir quiere decir restar algo de algo. La reducción es el acto de hacer algo más pequeño. A mí me parece que en tu ejemplo las dos palabras son sinónimas.

Good answer, re-duct doesn't exiost, unless it's to do with ventilation, perhaps.. - annierats, Jun 11, 2012

Just to be clear, the nouns Reduction and Deduction are very similar (though used a bit differently). However although Deduct IS a verb, Reduct is NOT a verb (barring annierats very good hypothetical example) As such, I don't think you can really call them synonyms. Never thought about this before, but for a non native speaker, I think this would be somewhat tricky. And even worse if you throw in deduce and reduce. Yikes. English can be tough.

To deduct = to take away, subtract. =>Noun : deduction.

And then there is to deduce = to draw as a conclusion. => Noun : deduction

So far, so good. Then there is the verb to reduce => noun: reduction. Prices can be reduced, rebels can be reduced or subdued, people can be reduced to despair or poverty. In all these cases some kind of change is involved.

But there is no such thing as a verb 'to reduct'
