What is this, why is it famous and in what country is it?

If you don't see the answer right away, you can ask me yes/no-questions, that is: questions that can be answered with either "yes" or "no". Or "si" or "no" grin
No immediate googling please.

Is it the worlds biggest swimming pool located in Chile.? I just saw an article on it two days ago. I think it was San Alfonso or something like that.

This indeed is San Alfonso del Mar, a private resort with the largest swimming pool in the world. It is located in Algarrobo, Chile, only 100 km away from Santiago.
This pool is 1 km long, holds 66 million gallons of pumped & filtered Pacific Ocean-water and is 35 m at the deepest end!
Besides swimming, the pool is also used for other watersports.
It is very popular with tourists as the seawater is cold, rough and dangerous.

It has been developed by Chilean company Crystal Lagoons and was opened in December 2006.
Crystal Lagoons has developed advanced filtration techniques that use a mere 2 % of the energy that traditional systems use.
This company is now involved in 180 projects in 45 different countries.
