Help with my audio lessons please - conocer
Hi all,
I'm working on audio lessons while driving around in my truck this summer, between my 1st and 2nd semesters. Problem is, sometimes I can't quite figure out what I'm hearing. I'm going to be begging for help periodically, so thanks for humoring me. I'll BOLD the part in question.
The first one today, was, I believe
Mucho gusto en conocer la
or maybe
Mucho gusto enconocer la
I know it basically means pleased to meet you, but the EN portion (if that is indeed what I'm hearing) is new and confusing . I've basically heard the same, but without the EN before, I think.
What could that EN mean? Or if you think I'm hearing it wrong, what other short little word or syllable might it be?
Thanks Roger

You are hearing this correctly, but it´s spelled "Mucho gusto en conocerla."
You are telling a woman who you are meeting for the first time, and using formal "you" (Ud.) that it is a pleasure to make her acquaintance.
"Mucho gusto en conocerlo/la" = "nice to meet you (to a man/woman)"
Mucho gusto en conocerla. <--This "la" needs to be attached to the end of "conocer"
Hmm, to me it seems like "Its a pleasure in meeting her!"
That's sometimes used even in English, (although not common), but I've definately heard it before.
Literally "[It brings me] much pleasure in meeting her."
OK, thanks all. EN separate, and LA attached. Got it.
So, when I THOUGHT I originally learned this phrase, I don't recall the EN being there.
Is there a version with out the EN
i.e. just
Mucho gusto conocerla
?
thanks roger
