When to exactly use 'llevar' ?

It can be very confusing as I have read llevar in following sentences.

Llevo una camiseta blanca.

Llevo una escalera.

Llevamos casados 2 años.

The verb "llevar" can be used in many ways.

Llevo una camiseta blanca. (I wear....)

Llevo una escalera. (I carry ....)

Llevamos casados 2 años. (We have been.....)

Por favor, llévame a la tienda. (Take me....)

lleva un bigote grande. (He wears....)

No, in that case is "haber" no "llevar". I have been: yo he estado/yo he sido. You have been: Usted ha estado/usted ha sido - cocotica, Jun 7, 2012

As you have already seen, llevar can be used in a variety of ways. You will just have to learn where and when to use it. Here are some unusual examples,

Cuanto tiempo llevas aquí en España - How long have you been in Spain.

Ella lleva la contabilidad - She does the accounts.

¿Qué la llevó a hacerlo? - What made her do it?

No llevo dinero encima - I don't have any money on me.

Trabaja y además lleva la casa - She works and does all the housework as well. (Just like most women)

Llegó su apogeo la prosa española - Spanish prose reached its highest point.

Esto me lleva a pensar que - This leads me to believe that.

Una canción que lleva por título "Rencor" - A song entitled "Rencor".

Llevaste muy bien la entrevista - You handled the interview very well.
