The use of "se" is in the top five of "the most challenging parts about Spanish/French/Portuguese". I just named those three because I have studied them and they are used in the same way. If I were you, I would check out this link or anything similar: http://www.spanishdict.com/answers/101358/lazarus-and-the-use-of-se Lazarus usually has some fairly deep explanations, but many of them are very easy to understand.

For me, "se" is one of the most difficult things in Spanish along with gender of nouns and over a hundred conjugations of every verb.

Sometimes I hear "se" and understand, sometimes I am totally confused by it. When and if I ever master "se" I will be a very happy gringo.

I think all of that is 10x simpler than SE. I find SE the most troubling. The conjugations aren't so vast as some make them out to be. - sinsonte, Jun 7, 2012
