Can someone please explain to me when to use "para" and when to use "por"? I know para means intended for,but after that I get confused :(

Type either para or por into the search box, and there are lots of questions about this. This is a reference article by Paralee. There are some exercises near the end of the article.

Hi mamabeth, I am learning Spanish and can't give you a definite rule but this is what works for me. Perhaps it will help. I use por for something that I think is a permanent condition and para for something that is temporary. It's non scientific, but it works most of the time for me. I've been told that once you master the language, you will 'feel' the difference. Cheers!
