Times as much as

Times as much as

This is a tricky one. I need a professional Spanish translation for the following:

The original number is 20. How would you write...

0.1 times as much as 20?

I know that times (as much) would be: veces más But in this instance, the value gets smaller when you multiply by 0.1

At a loss here. Thanks!

I am English and I do not understand your question. This is why, unMica, a fluent Spanish speaker is having trouble in giving a Spanish translation.

Do you mean how do you translate 20 times 0.1 which as unMica has said would be 20 por 0.1. If so, the term as much as is not needed even though the answer will be smaller than 20 which will in fact be 2.

20 por 0.1 = 20 x 0.1 = 20 times 0.1

Is that what you mean?

"0.1 times as much as 20"

This is jibberish. "0.1 times 20" is sufficient and doesn´t cause confusion.

unMica is right. "20 por 0.1" which is a shortened version of "20 multiplicado por 0.1"

And the answer is irrelevant to the question, language-wise, anyway. - annierats, Jun 4, 2012

Yes, that's what I mean, but more literally,

"0.1 times as much as 20" (keep in mind that the answer will get smaller, so I'm not sure if "más" would apply in this scenario.

Anyone else?
