Hi and welcome to the Q&A forum.

"Eso es lo malo" means "That's what the bad thing is (about it)."

Example:

Joe: I'd like to see that movie, but it's three hours long.

Me gustaría ver esa película, pero tarda tres horas.

Mariana: Yeah, that's the bad thing about it.

Sí, eso es lo malo.

Other examples:

Lo peor es que...... (The worst thing is that......)

Lo bueno es que ....(The good thing is that......)

when do you say: "ya" , together with"eso es lo malo" , like: "ya, eso es lo malo"?

"ya... eso es lo malo."

"ya... eso es lo bueno."

You say that when you has been talking about a bad/good thing before.

Examples:

Mary: Me gustaría ir al cine. (I'd like going to the cinema).

Joe: ¡La entrada vale 10 euros! (The ticket costs 10 euros).

Mary: Ya.. eso es lo malo. La entrada es muy cara (Yes, this is the question. The ticket is very expensive).

In this case we say "es es lo malo" because the ticket is expensive (a bad thing).

Hey it's pretty good, but is it ok to offer a little help? I would say .. (for your 'you say that when you 'have' ...sentence) You use this phrase to refer to something that you have already been speaking about. - Kiwi-Girl, Jul 7, 2012

Almost perfect, Jose.

"ya... eso es lo malo."

"ya... eso es lo bueno."

You say that when you have been talking about a bad/good thing.

Examples:

Mary: Me gustaría ir al cine. (I'd like to go to the cinema).

Joe: ¡La entrada vale 10 euros! (The ticket costs 10 euros).

Mary: Ya.. eso es lo malo. La entrada es muy cara (Yes, this is the bad part. The ticket is very expensive).

In this case we say "es es lo malo" because the ticket is expensive (a bad thing).
