It's not hard, but a challenge. It's something that must be approached with determination, courage, curiosity, passion, and patience. smile

At first it may seem difficult, even impossible, but that's a natural feeling that is experienced when one is learning a new language.

Just remember, never give up. Imagine all of the possibilities you will unlock upon learning a new language.

Learning a new language is something that unites everyone on SpanishDict and elsewhere on other language learning sites for all different languages, so you are not alone in this journey of learning a new language.

To make Spanish seem less difficult, I can suggest a few tips for you.

1) Change of attitude is key. Don't think of Spanish as hard...just think of it as a challenge that has to be accepted with grace! Push yourself and you'll be surprised how much you'll learn after you get past the mindset that says "Spanish is difficult."

2) Practice makes perfect. An old cliché, I know, I know. But it truly is correct when applied to language learning. A few exercises each day will lead to a big improvement in your language understanding and application.

3) Don't be afraid to ask questions. There are many many many resources for Spanish learners out there. You are on one right now. As a student, I find many people hesitate to ask questions at the risk of looking foolish. I couldn't disagree with these people more! You really look foolish if you don't ask questions, in my opinion. wink There's no such thing as a stupid question.

4) Have confidence in your abilities.

Best of luck on your path to Spanish fluency. Feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Great answer! I would only add... "Be sure to congratulate yourself each time you have truly learned something." That is essential in maintaining a positive attitude. - Esteban3304, Jun 4, 2012
couldn't say it better :D - Allouch, Jun 4, 2012
I think that third quote is out of context there. Lol. - sinsonte, Jun 4, 2012
Agreed! I only started learning Spanish 2 weeks ago and at first I found it very challenging but yes there are so many resources out there - keep at it! - JimmyMax, Jun 5, 2012

You just need concentration and**Interest, if you have interest then you can do anything **

Anything worthwhile takes effort, patience with yourself, and perseverance.

You have to want to do something to do it well.

¡Buena suerte!

Hello Ziede,

Spanish is only difficult if you let it become difficult. By that I mean, if you study hard, practice daily, and take advantage of every opportunity to speak it, it will slowly become eaier to understand. The good news is the easier it gets, the more you will want to learn. Good luck mi amigo.

It's a lot harder to learn another alphabet as well as a language itself! I took Ancient Greek... Good luck with your Spanish! Try thinking of it as fun instead of work... If you absolutely have to learn Spanish, but you don't want to, I would try a K12 course. They are filled with games and other fun things to help you learn a language.

Buena Suerte!(???? ????) smile

You know, I think learning a new language CAN be difficult, but what a worthwhile challenge! IF you have the chance to go to a Spanish-speaking country, even for a vacation, it can make such a difference. Suddenly the language comes alive in a new way because you hear people using it. You are able to learn not only by memorizing grammatical rules and vocabulary but also through simply listening. If you don't have the chance to go to a Spanish-speaking country, join a conversational group or class so that you can hear the language spoken. Hearing it really will bring it to life in a new way. Stick with it! It will become easier!

If you think that way, then you better steer clear of Mandarin, Russian or Arabic, I'd say that if you don't like it, you better do not even think of trying to learn it, if you enjoyed it, you wouldn't care about the effort you have to make to reach your goal.
