He is always ready to help others

He is always ready to help others

Hi all,

I can´t quite figure out how to say ¨He is always ready to help others¨

No entiendo como expresar ¨He is always ready to help others¨

Something like

Él está siempre listo para ayudar otros? That doesn´t sound quite right and I¨m pretty sure I¨m not getting the ´others´ part right.

Any help appreciated. I would also like to to know the similar phrase ´He is always ready to help other racers´

Thanks for the help

Gracias por ayudarme.

Roger

Gracias. Any chance you, or anyone, could comment on demás vs otras. I´m trying to develop a better feel for the feel of each, since we´d use ´others´ for both. I want to better understand why demás instead of otras. Thanks! -

I have never thought about it until just now, but the difference is "los demás" can be used when the other people or things have already been identified or not identified. "Los otros" is used only after they have been identified. At least this is the feeling. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks. Exactly what I was looking for. 'los demás' is vaguer, less defined, and used in general when the others are not yet identified. Makes sense. Thanks! - rogspax, Jun 4, 2012
I also just learned ´además´ the same day, so I´ll need to work to keep those two new words from getting mixed up in my head - rogspax, Jun 4, 2012

"Listo" is only "ready" when it´s something like ie: I am ready to go ..... Estoy listo. And "she is very clever" "es muy lista"

¨He is always ready to help others¨ ....... Siempre está dispuesto a ayudar a los demás.

other racers ....... los demás corredores / los otros corredores.

Depending of the type of racer, you would add "corredor de ......"
