Skype Chat?

When's the next one? I haven't been using SD as much this year as last year, but the Spanish skype group chats were really helpful. Anyone know when then next one is?

Thanks! Mike

You can quite easily start your own chat group , you need a Spanish and English

native speaker to run the group , work out a theme and a lesson for each chat ,

failure to do this will result in a disorderly talk -fest with no hope of learning either

English or Spanish. One person needs to be in charge to orchestrate the group and to

assure that each person is allowed to speak . That person needs to be the one

to call all the others on skype at the allotted time , that being one of the hardest

things to do because we live in many parts of the world and the times have to be

coordinated accurately for it to function like clockwork. Best of luck for when it

works well it is an incredible learning tool and great fun. Sanlee I and Dakie ran a few , it was not easy but we had a ball , I hope that you get it going again , get in touch with a moderator and speak about what you would like to do .

I really miss the chatroom (the way it worked before it was great). It was a great place for practicing listening and speaking.

Gracias, mi amigo. Es lamentable que la sala de chat todavía no está aquí. Espero que esté abierta pronto. - iana01, Jun 3, 2012

Unfortunately I think you will have to look for native spanish speakers as I have done using language exchange sites. Entonces siquiera puedes tener charlas periódicas para practicar. Buena suerte amigo!

This is exactly the type of interchange I hoped for. Please keep me in mind.

Wish I had thought of posting the question.

I did post the question on my meetup Spanish group site (probably one in your area). They have monthly meetings at different venues. Check with Meetup on line. I was given verbling.com. They have learning exercises and points awarded, but primarily the opportunity to converse with a native Spanish speaker. Each speaker helps the other with English/Spanish. The conversations are timed back and forth with an ability to extend.

When a person is available you're given a prompt. Further conversations will be with new native Spanish speakers.

I intend to begin the verbling Skype conversations in a week or two. I'm trying to prepare by reviewing study material and watching youtube lessons.

Pues sí, a ver si se puede chatear o contactar con gente para intercambiar impresiones.

Regards!
