"The sinkholes are killing us". ( speaking of insurance claims) "Los hundimientos nos están matando." "Tenemos muchos reclamos por los hundimientos"

If you are speaking with other Insurance professionals, I'm sure that they'd understand your statement (the Spanish is correct). Without context the general public may take you literally.

Are you trying to say the more common word "loophole", as in there's a loophole in the system? I found the following...

loophole (in the law) una fisura legal, una laguna jurídica/ legal (que se presta a trampas)

Also, I think an expressive way you could phrase it would be, "Hecha la ley hecha la trampa, y eso sí que es lo que nos mata." The saying, "hecha la ley hecha la trampa" touches on the subject of every law having a loophole and it seems the loopholes are killing you here. Hopefully I lined all that up right.

What do you mean? Do you get washed down the drain of your sink or do you try to camp on quicksand? Or just a pot-hole?

No, nothing about loophole or stink. Mariana understood it best. It is a statement to another insurance associate nothing to do with insureds, just that the sinkhole claims are really high - mpfehily, May 31, 2012
