Hello Noles. The reason you are not getting a more specific answer to your question is that it would be very hard to do. To understand the difference between the Indicative and the Subjunctive requires at least two complete lessons in Spanish. However, Rac1 and Diagonx both gave you very good suggestions. Try checking out the learning tools available here. Try clicking on "Learn" at the top of your browser, and then click on "Learn Spanish". There, you will find some great lessons from beginner to advanced. I am at Level 3, now. I always keep a notepad file open and take notes, and I jot down vocabulary words, etc., to refer to later on. The Lessons are just great! I hope you will give them a try. Wish we could have done better with your question, but it would require composing big Spanish lessons on the Indicative and the Subjunctive. That is not what the Q&A Forum is intended for. I learn a lot just from browsing through the Q&A Forum, and reading the answers provided. I invite you to try that also. Good luck with your Spanish and may all your grades be A's. ![]()
Noles, here is a link that goes directly to the Subjunctive vs Indicative lesson. As you'll see, it's quite elaborate so, as Esteban said, it wouldn't be possible to give you a quick and dirty answer here in the forum. Subjunctive and Indicative
Try looking in our Spanish Grammar section at the top of the page under the "Learn" tab. Very informative.
Try the lessons and the come back with any remaining doubt and it'll be dispelled
Subjunctive and indicative are modes that we use in spanish. Make sure you don't mix these up with TENSES.
The subjunctive is used when you want to show that something is beyond your control, also something that is uncertain, doubtful, nonexistent. Basically something that is not definite.
The indicative mode is used when something is certain. -The indicative mode consists of the present, preterite, imperfect
These definitions are extremely vague. So here's a link to give you more info about the differences.
