Hi mate! translation

Question

This is obviously the most frequent and informal greeting between friends in the UK. How would you translate it to Spanish? I would have a guess: ¡Hola, compa!, but this is a word to word translation. By the way: Hi mates, I have always spent wonderful time with you, here on this forum. Thanks to all of you!

Esto es obviamente el más frecuente e informal saludo entre amigos en el Reino Unido. ¿Cómo podría usted traducirlo al español? Tendría una suposición: ¡Hola, compa!, pero esta es una traducción palabra a palabra. A propósito: Hola compañeros, yo siempre he pasado momentos maravillosos con ustedes, aquí en este foro. In Spanish:

¡Hola compañero! (for a classmate or workmate)

Other similiar expressions:

Hi guy! = ¡Hola tío! = ¡Hola colega!

But it depends on whom you speak to.

It all depends on what you mean by mate: friend, chum, buddy, spouse(I don't think you mean this one!), random person, etc.

I would say amigo, which means friend.

By the way, Hi Mate! is popular in Australia too.
