Diego maradona speech!!

Question

Hi! I'm doing a speech on Diego Maradona for my spanish class and I have to ask my friend questions as part of it. I struggle a bit with questions... So i'm trying to ask 'do you know much about his drug addictions? .. and the translator came up with ¿sabe mucho acerca de su adicción a las drogas? but i'm not sure if it's structured correctly.

and i'm not sure if this is correct but i'm trying to say 'do you know how he started to play football' and this is what i wrote '¿Cómo comenzó a jugar al fútbol?'

any help would be great!

Vincente1 gave you good answers about how to phrase the questions in Spanish that you mentioned. I chose to still answer this question because I don't think those are the kinds of questions you would ask a friend concerning this topic. The questions you listed would be best posed to someone who was a sports authority or someone who was a close friend of Diego Maradona.

The types of questions one would normally pose to a friend or classmate would be more in the category of seeking his or her opinion about various issues raised when a famous athlete makes the unwise decision to abuse drugs. These kinds of questions would include:

1. Do you think testing of professional athletes for illegal drugs should be increased or decreased?

2. What should professional sports organizations do when test results show irrefutably that a professional athlete is abusing drugs?

3. How do you think sports team owners can best keep their professional athletes from abusing drugs.

I think these types of questions could be answered better by your classmate, and be of more interest to the audience that is listening to your speech.

Below you will find some other ways of asking the same questions:

I think it is more appropiate to say the following:

¿Sabes algo sobre su adicción a las drogas? / Do you know something about his drug addiction?

¿Cuánto sabes sobre su addición a las drogas? / How much do you know about his drug addictions?

With regards to the second question, I would rather say:

¿Sabes cómo/cuándo comenzó a jugar fútbol? / Do you know how/when he started to play football?
