lluvia vs lluvias
I noticed that one of the websites I visit for weather information had a page in Spanish, so I clicked on that. Can anybody explain why, in a weather forecast, "lluvias" would be used instead of "lluvia"? I'm American, so sometimes I have trouble understanding why other nationalities use plural when I use singular. Thanks!

In English we also have a plural for 'rains'. Las lluvias is the same. I can't wait until the rains come (talking about a rainy season or time when it rains often).
Te necesito mi cariño como las rosas necesitan las lluvias. I need you my darling like roses need rain. A line from a song ( Twelth of never) in the Spanish translation the plural "Las lluvias" has to agree with "Las rosas" in plural.
