How do you say groomsmen in Spanish?

Some of the old posts use "padrinos de boda" but there seems to be some controversy over that.
Type in 'groomsmen' in the translation box, then you will find "groomsmen" in our Q & A section and there are multiple threads on that.
Check out this discussion: groomsmen
Someone from Spain wrote this: "grooms·man: a male friend who attends a bridegroom at his wedding.
Esto equivale al padrino.
FYI: En España no se acostumbra a tener "groomsmen" or "bridesmaids". Generalmente los padrinos son el padre de la novia y la madre del novio."
