dijiste - cantaste - fuiste ...are proper forms

dijistes - cantastes - fuistes ...are nothing I've ever seen in Spanish, ever.

There is a conjugation tool at the top of your screen that could have answered that for you, and could be of use in the future.

Note: After having read that some Spanish speakers commit this error, I completely understand how it was a bit beyond a conjugation tool, jaja.

Mil gracias Sinsonte! Adela - Adelap, May 27, 2012
dijistes etc. son errores. Not standard Spanish. - sinsonte, May 27, 2012
Tengo una amiga en Canadá cuya familia fue de Colombia. Ella siempre usa "-istes" y fue muy sorprendido cuando le dije que es incorrecto. - Qwertie, May 27, 2012
Guau, interesante. - sinsonte, May 27, 2012

Dijistes o dijiste Cantastes o cantaste Fuistes o fuiste

These, in bold, are incorrect conjugations although somewhat commonly used by children, but they grow out of this quickly. Unfortunately, there are adults out in the sticks who never grow out of it.

It´s cute to hear a child do this, but not an adult. Once I knew a little girl who would always say Juistes instead of Fuiste.

Neat story! - sinsonte, May 27, 2012
Jaja! Makes sense. Children tend to have more regular speech; -istes is more regular since it is consistent with the other tenses. - Qwertie, May 27, 2012

It depends on your context.

If you are discussing things with family, friends, and people you know really well, you may use dijiste, cantaste, and fuiste for the past tense indicative, preterit.

If you are discussing things with your teacher who you don't know well or a stranger you don't know well, you may use dijo, cantó, and fue for the past tense indicative, preterit.

Gracias, claro tenemos el modo formal e informal. Pero me referí al modo informal. Acabo de recordar que cuando decimos fuistes, dijistes o cantastes, es una degeneración del español antiguo: fuisteis, dijisteis, cantasteis... :o) - Adelap, May 27, 2012
Sí - sinsonte, May 27, 2012
Adelap, no creo que esto sea el caso pues la conjugación de Vosotros no es antiguo sino se usa hoy en día en España - 005faa61, May 27, 2012
Se usa en España, pero es un poco antiguo. - sinsonte, May 27, 2012
La mayoría de hispanohablantes que me he encontrado, dicen que es un poco "raro" o "anticuado" - sinsonte, May 27, 2012
