Today write sentences with "break down"

Hello everyone .I think phrasal verbs are one of the most difficult to many english learners because most of them do not have a literal translation, so I have decided to learn one or two phrasal verbs every day. And I know you can help me with that, but you also need to learn Spanish, so please write the sentence in English using the PV then try it in Spanish. Then I will correct your sentence (the Spanish sentence, of course);we will help each other out.

  • The telephone system has broken down. ( stopped working because of a fault)

    El sistema telefónico se ha averiado. ( funcionamiento parado debido a alguna falta)

  • Negotiations between the two sides have broken down. (have failed)

    Las negociaciones entre ambas partes han fracasado. (han fracasado)

In the second sentence I woulld not say "desglosado" .."han fracasado" is ok - luisssito, May 25, 2012

ohh good sentence ,I thought "break down i can use it when a machine is working and suddenly it stops woking.forexample :Yestarday ,coming back from the beach my car broke down(dejó de funcionar or se malogró).Now I know it also means "desarmar". - luisssito, May 25, 2012
