"Usted es hermosa en mis ojos"

It seems very strange.

I'd say:

"Para mi manera de ver, eres guapa"....

maybe "para mis ojos" is a metaphor that it means "from point of view"

In Spain we hardly ever use "Hermosa" when you tell about the beauty of a woman.

"Hermosa" is a word old-fashioned in Spain. In South America is very common, or in romantic, western, historical films (when the prince says to princess that he's very "hermosa" or "bella") or in poetry books.

Nowadays, young people say (colloquial): "estás buena"

For example:

  • Angelina Jolie está "buena" (not "hermosa").... Hermosa sounds old-fashioned.

  • Brad Pitt está bueno.

O pordrías decir que son "guapos".

En Sudamérica se utiliza "hermoso/a", pero no en España. Es una de las cientos de palabras que nos diferencian. Por otro lado, la utilización del "Usted", en España solamente la usamos para casos de mucha educación (we're less polite than in América latina). En América latina la utilizan siempre en su lenguaje independientemente de la persona a la que se dirijan. En España solamente a cargos importantes, de respeto, etc...

" that means from a point of view" when you " speak " about the beauty. " is an old fashioned word" that " she is " very hermosa. Thank you for the explanation it is very thorough and understandable. - ray76, May 25, 2012
Hardly everyone in SAm uses "hermosa", you know, we have 5 times the number Spanish speakers Spain has, a more common word is "linda/o" or "está buena/o" when not being formal - diagonx, May 25, 2012
Diagonx, "lindo/a" is an Latino adjective. In Spain, we never use "lindo/a". Solamente escuchamos esta palabra a las personas de América latina. - josemaloru, May 25, 2012
En España, las películas antiguas de dibujos de Disney, fueron traducidas del inglés al español en México (por la cercanía). Muchas expresiones como "linda" o "bella" aparecen en esas películas, pero en España no se utilizan nunca - josemaloru, May 25, 2012

Just a suggestion, this sort of intimate statement would normally use the tú form. " Tú eres hermosa en mis ojos."

Noetol is right; however, using these words "en mis ojos" could very easily give the impression that in someone elses eyes she might be ugly, so I would just say "Tú eres hermosa" and be safe.
