This one's for songs I, you, we, they or all like, no matter what language the song is in, just give a description, if you want, in either Spanish or English or both. I'll start:

Pixies - Where is my mind

I learnt about this one when I first watched "Fight Club", first I just liked the tune, then I loved the lyrics. Hope you like it.

The Ramones - Bonzo Goes to Bitburg

Gotta love The Ramones and their hammering on Reagan with this song

Vincent by Don McClean

An amazing song made even better by an amazing video of VanGogh's work.

"Now I understand, what you tried to say to me, and how you suffered for your sanity and how you tried to set them free. They were not listening. They did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now."

Tatsulok (Triangle) by Bamboo

It's a protest song against the pyramidical structure of Philippine society where the poor forms the base and the elite few controls the top. The song implies that the root cause of fighting is the social pyramid where only the wealthy and influential have the unfair advantage over the impoverished. It's a song during a time when the country is rife with armed conflict and most of the victims were innocent civilians from the countryside.

Nice, that song could fit in almost every society today, how lame is that, but let's not delve into such thorny affaires. Is that Tagalog? I could spot the origin of some of the words from Spanish:" Hustisya" and "Sementeryo", they sound almost the same. - diagonx, Jun 30, 2012
How big, or small, was the influece of Spanish on the languages of the Philippines? I mean after 300 years some imprint should have remained. I've heard some Chavacano de Zamboanga, it is very close to Spanish in both vocab and pronunciation. - diagonx, Jun 30, 2012
Yes, it's Tagalog. There are a few thousand Spanish words that became part of the daily Philippine lexicon. They are usually spelled differently (e.g. h instead of j; k instead of q) but for the most part, the pronunciation remains the same. - cheskasullivan, Jun 30, 2012
The accent varies per region and the grammar still follows the Austronesian structure. I think Chavacano is the closest Phil. language to Spanish. I'll post a song for you. Let me know how much you understand.I'm curious too since you're a native speaker. - cheskasullivan, Jun 30, 2012
