el/la frente (fren'-teh)

noun ( forehead, brow (fem.); front (masc.) )

Caefuego is the official corrector of the Spanish sentences. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Please correct your posts according to Caefuego's suggestions.

Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. Then the Word of the Day winner will be chosen!

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Examples:

1. Arrugó la frente cuando le dijo mi excusa.

She wrinkled her forehead when I told her my excuse.

2. Pasé al frente de la fila ya que era mi cumpleaños.

I went to the front of the line since it was my birthday.

Hay un dicho en Melbourne , " él tiene más frente que una grande tienda,

lo que significa que él es muy descarado . O adelante.

There is a saying in Melbourne, " he has more front than ( Myers ) a large store .

Which means he is very cheeky, or very forward.

It may not work in Spanish . ¡Pero lo que sea !

Dont quote me on it Julian the Spanish may not be correct , I have a lot of front also, thanks mate. - ray76, May 19, 2012
That s interesting Ranman ,ours was started by a Polish Jewish gentleman in the 1880s who traveled around the bush in a horse drawn van , he built a vast empire from humble beginnings , "Myers " was the biggest store in Melbourne , it is still here. - ray76, May 19, 2012
What do they carry? - rac1, May 19, 2012
It is a department store which sells everything , from socks to furniture , at Christmas time the store front windows are famous for showing Christmas pageants , people come from all over the State with their children to see them , it is a tradition here - ray76, May 19, 2012

Los asientos en el del frente son más caros porque le garantizan ver toda la acción.

The seats in front are more expensive because you are guaranteed to see all the action.

lol.... Well, I would say "del frente", "al frente" or "de la primera fila" instead of "en el frente", even though I opine that your sentence is completely understandable. - -cae-, May 19, 2012
Thank you Caefuego. I am assuming that your lol means you can see the image. - Nilda-Ballardo, May 19, 2012

Este mundo no es justo: mientras algunas personas tienen que trabajar con el sudor de su frente - ellos literalmente viven para trabajar - otras tienen más tiempo libre y sólo tienen que trabajar para vivir.

This world isn't fair: while some people have to work themselves into a sweat - they literally live to work - others have more free time and only have to work to live.

Maybe some decisions left wrinkles on your face or forehead but those decisions were worth them.

Tal vez, algunas deciciones dejaron arrugas en tu cara o en tu frente, pero esas deciciones valieron la pena.
