How to say "bowl of..." in Spanish?

I'm trying to say "they filled three bowls with the soup" but nothing I've found seems to translate right... is it ok to say "llenaron tres boles con la sopa"? or does that sound weird?
I know if you're ordering soup or something you would say like "plato de sopa" but that's not really what I'm going for in this case
