Me gustaría saber si la palabra "senora" se usaba para dirigir/referir a la madre?

Si, cuando usas la palabra Señora todos sabemos que te estas refiriendo a una madre o a una persona con mas edad.

Generalmente se le dice señora a una persona que ya es casada y también a las personas mayores.

Señora is very much like the British Mrs., it refers to a married woman, or one of an age to be married, It has nothing to do with motherhood, as such.

But "señora" is too formal to say it to your own mother, unless you're very angry at her,and you want to distance yourself from her.

You can say "esa señora es mi madre", and that's not disrespectful, but to say "Señora, ¿qué desea comer?" to your own mother is harsh.
