I agree with Henrietta in that all names do not translate.

I have a Spanish name "Nilda". It is very popular in Puerto Rico. It doesn't translate to another name in English.

However, in a Spanish-speaking country it would be pronounced Neel-dah. Here in the States, it's Nill-da,

The name Makayla consists of three "a's". The two on the end are short "a's", while the one in the middle is a long "a". Ma-Kaay-la.

In Spanish, the letter "a" has only one sound "ah". So, if you were in a Spanish-speaking country they might possibly say something like: Mah-kay-lah, if they were not familiar with how to pronounce your name in English.

One more thing I wanted to say, you have a very pretty name!

My mother tongue is English. In Spanish, wouldn't the 2nd syllable of this name most likely be pronounced to rhyme with the Spanish words "hay" or "playa"? - Esteban3304, May 14, 2012
Esteban, you are right. I meant to say "kay", Thank you. I made the correction above. - Nilda-Ballardo, May 14, 2012
It's Mika-e-la - Josie2016, Oct 25, 2015

Makayla appears to be a girl's name. It would probably be the same in Spanish.

It stays the same. Some names have spanish equivalents, such as George and Jorge, Mary and Maria, but if there is no equivalent, the name remains the same.
