You have two clues. First, contenta. That means happy or content, which is a temporary-current state, not an enduring characteristic, which means a form of estár is required.

Similarly, the word ´hoy´ (today) which also implies current state (vs past or future) which means temporary-current state, and thus again, the need for estar.

As my professor´s goofy little jingle goes.

How you feel and where you are -- always use estar
