¡Hola!

Tengo un problema con la letra de una cancíon de La Oreja de Van Gogh; La Playa.

Ese es el estribillo:

"Te voy a escribir la canción más bonita del mundo,

voy a capturar nuestra historia en tan solo un segundo.

y un día verás que este loco de poco se olvida,

por mucho que pasen los años de largo en su vida."

He apuntado lo que no comprendo en negrita.

(Por favor, corregid mi español si es necesario)

Pasar de largo means to ignore something (literally passing without stopping). In your sentence "Por mucho que pasen los años de largo en su vida" means No matter how much time passes by in his life he will always remember it (He says su vida because he's speaking about himself in the third person singular)

Por mucho que pasen los años de largo en su vida

Se podría decir: however much time passes by, or howerver much years pass by

I think that would have to be rephrased in English to keep the same meaning it has in Spanish, at least I could not translate literally word by word.

What do you think?
