La palabra Cajón (contexto música)
Paco is of course the greatest flamenco player in the world, but I cannot figure out how he's using the word CAJÓN in this snippet of an interview. Cajón can mean drawer, case, casket, etc. but none of that seems to fit. I almost think that he is using it in the sense of a musical genre but then we have género for that.
Other than that it's a very revealing interview about how he learned to play. The man does not read music!
AP: Ahora ya no se puede concebir el flamenco sin el cajón. ¿Cómo se siente de haber incluido este instrumento al género?
De Lucía: Es cierto que el cajón se difundió en todo el mundo más a través del flamenco que desde Perú directamente porque de Perú no había salido hasta que yo lo saqué al mundo. Lo del cajón ha sido maravilloso porque ha trascendido a todas los géneros musicales. Cada vez veo más gente que usa cajón en todo tipo de géneros. El otro día vi una noticia que decía que iba a haber un maratón de cajón peruano, donde la gente va a tocar hasta que caiga al suelo y me dio mucha alegría, porque he colaborado en algo. He hecho algo por la música, por el instrumento, por Perú. Me siento muy orgulloso.

You just reminded me of something, we're I'm from we have this idiom: hacer el cajón, it means to hook up with one of your friends' girlfriend or boyfirend if it's among girls, I hadn't thought about it in a long time.
