" .... me traes estrellas."

" .... me traes estrellas."

I heard this new idiomatic expression today and had no idea what it meant. Can you figure it out? " .... me traes estrellas." Best answer for the first non native speaker to post the correct answer. Play fair, don't use the translator or books of idiomatic expression eventhough I'm not sure they would help.

Okay. Here is the answer. I gave annie best answer as she was on the right track.

Me traes estrellas .... you give my nothing but useless words/empty promises.

The girl says Ï give you my heart and you only give me empty promises.

I thought that it was a great idiomatic expression so I wanted to share it with you all.

When I hear another I will do it again. Perhaps some native speakers can put up some unusual ones as well. - gringojrf, Apr 30, 2012

You bring me luck.

Alternative: You bring me fried eggs?? That's much less romantic, however.

LOL...perhaps, it is the condament with the eggs is where the romance is??? or not. - HowardO, Apr 30, 2012
True, it could be very lucky and romantic to be brought fried eggs. - annierats, Apr 30, 2012

OK, we know men. Their idea of metaphysical is probably fairly earthbound ( sorry Gringo!)

So, there are cheap trains in Spain, called Estrellas. It took me a long time, but I think I've got the answer: Carry me off by Estrella .

You are still too literal. - gringojrf, Apr 30, 2012
Well, the most obvious explanation is not suitable for a family website... - annierats, Apr 30, 2012

Okay time for another clue. Annie was on track when she said it might be sea stars, pretty but useless. She got the useless part right but its not sea stars that are useless but something else.

The estrellas are the ones you see in the sky at night. So what is the meaning of "you bring me stars"?

You're a fisherman and you just bring in sea-stars, pretty but useless? Estrellas del mar?

You are wrong about the sea stars but dead on track about the useless. - gringojrf, Apr 30, 2012

You are really going to have to think metaphorically on this one.

Okay here is a little more help. In a conversation between lovers the girl says this to the boy.

Puede ser porque le brillan los ojos (como dos estrellas) cuando ve a su amado, eso le llena de ilusión.
